SHAPEERA DAVIS

Mrs. Shapeera Davis is the Hip Hop and Musical Theatre instructor at Barefoot. Shapeera has been involved with music, theatre and dance since she was a child. She officially did not do organized dance until high school. Shapeera attended and graduated from Rapid City Central High School where her dance experience included cheer team, dance team, and stage dance. Shapeera attended college at Minnesota State University Moorhead where although majoring in Biology, she kept dance and theatre an active part of her life. She was involved in stage dance, cheer team (where she competed at Nationals in Daytona Beach Florida), choreography classes and various theatrical productions. Upon graduating, she became the assistant coach for the Fergus Falls junior and high school gymnastics program.
After moving back to Rapid City, Shapeera has continued to use her experience in her community. She has been apart of several stage productions including “Rent” and "Newsies" put on by A.C.T.S,   “Cats” and "The Little Mermaid" put on by BHCT and was an assistant choreographer and cast member in A.C.T.S. productions of “Hairspray” and "Pippin." She also sings throughout the community and country in a group with her sisters called “The Davis Sisters.” Shapeera was also the Executive Director of the Miss South Dakota Jr. High, High School & Collegiate America Pageant along side the Little Miss South Dakota Primary, Elementary & South Dakota's Young Miss which Barefoot Dance studio performs in. Shapeera’s television experience includes  American Idol in 2004, the 2011 Mrs. America Pageant where she was Mrs. South Dakota, and various commercials.
“I love to teach the arts! It’s fun, exciting, and an excellent way for expression. I also think that it is a great way to captivate youth in a positive environment and help them build self esteem and experience for their future!”
