MARY ANN HODNETT
Mary Ann Hodnett grew up in Rapid City, SD and was captain of the Cobbler Coeds Dance Team. She attended Colorado State University as a dance performance major. She graduated cum laude from Oklahoma City University with a degree in Dance Management. Throughout college, Ms. Hodnett was a contestant in the Miss America Organization in several states. After obtaining her degree, She returned to Colorado to perform with the NBA Denver Nuggets Dance Team and High Performance Dance Theatre. Then, continued her dance training in New York City at Broadway Dance Center. While living in New York City for three years she was a back up dancer for NSYNC, Radiohead (MTV Music Awards) as well as performed at Lincoln Center, Roseland Ballroom, Limelight and Radio City Music Hall. She returned to South Dakota to open Pure Form Dance Studio, pioneering hip hop dance education in the Black Hills. She choreographed two evening works at the Dahl Fine Arts Center through the Pure Form Dance Company and Dakota Dance Company as well as served as choreographer for several Black Hills Community Theatre productions including; Baby, Oklahoma, Cinderella and Anything Goes. She served on the Black Hills Dance Theatre Board of Directors. Miss Mary Ann returned to the east coast as a freelance choreographer and teacher in Northern New Jersey at numerous dance studios, schools and gymnastics studios teaching up to 300 students per week. She created a unique curriculum for preschools called Miss Cupcake’s Yoga Hoop Dance. She was also a work study student at Broadway Dance Center in NYC. Once again, she is back home ready to share her wealth of knowledge and experience in many forms of dance and yoga.
